Company History

GUBI was founded in 1976 by the designer couple Lisbeth and Gubi Olsen.
The strategy was focused on design, product development and marketing of furniture and fabrics for the retail trade. The couple designed a collection of upholstery furniture and a furniture fabric called Holmensklæde.

Over the years GUBI established a firm position on the danish market as retailers of select quality furniture from all over the world, and aquired the production rights for products such as the BestLite lamps, designed in the thirties by british Robert Dudley Best.

Keeping the international perspective in mind the management of GUBI was handed over to Jacob Gubi Olsen in 1999, where the core focus shifted towards the professional contract market.

The GUBI strategy

GUBI is a design and development company who is able to deliver different furniture solutions. We cover following areas: The office, conference rooms, meeting rooms, receptions, lounges etc.

Our collection is developed in close collaboration with well-known Danish architects.
The design philosophy is to make functional furniture with an innovative touch.
The products are all made in high quality materials, for maximum durability and strenght.
The materials are also chosen to make the least possible environmental impact.

The product development of our own office systems was introduced with the emphasis on high-level international design, sophisticated material and functionality adaptable to present and future market demands.

GUBI is a design and development company. The entire production is outsourced to high skilled innovative sub-suppliers in Denmark. This gives us a possibility for developing “time to market” and to use the newest technology for the design we decide to market. Furthermore it gives us strength in proposing customized solutions.
